The question
How can a fragrance become part of a university’s language? The Bocconi project considers Vision 2030 and the relationship between knowledge, responsibility and openness. Olfactory identity sits alongside the institution’s other forms of expression.
The olfactory direction
Citrus and marine accords open the composition. Freesia and aquatic jasmine meet a base of patchouli, marine woods and white amber. The direction is bright and transparent, in dialogue with the campus architecture.
A language within space
The relationship between fragrance, surfaces and surroundings is part of the design. Scent is considered in relation to both the place and the values the university seeks to communicate.
A design lesson
Strategic vision provides a direction; architecture provides a tangible setting. Olfactory design needs to work at both scales.
